Have you ever...ever felt like this?

"Round the Twist" ! ... Strange things are happening.
Jed exclaimed, "I knew it looked familiar!", when the lady at the caravan park said that the Lighthouse at Split Point, Airey's Inlet, was the site where they filmed the ABC series "Round the Twist"!

The "twisted" path up to the Split Point Lighthouse
The Local Govt. 'wheels' obviously turn slowly in the Surf Coast Shire as well...the "twisted" path was finally painted on the roadway to the lighthouse, during the days we were in Airey's Inlet - February. Not prior to the summer season for the benefit of all the tourists! Very effective tho'.

And from all accounts, the summer season has been a poor one for business operators in the area, with a cooler than average January. The caravan park we stayed at has had it's quietest summer this year, since the managers have been there (9 years)!

Not just "twisted", but a weird house!

Our little Aussie kids were highly amused by this sign
that appeared every now and then along the Great Ocean
Road. As if you need to tell people where to drive!!? (not
a bad idea, seen as every second car was filled with Asians
and every fourth one with Germans or Canadians!) We
Australians were definitely in the minority.

Towards Lorne

Jed & Lily started their schooling with Open Access during our time at Airey's Inlet, and after a frustrating first day, with technology, things settled into a bit of a routine. It was good to stay still for a time to get this established and Airey's Inlet was a great spot to have as a base to do some other day trips (fitted in around school work!). We journeyed to Lorne, Geelong, Angelsea, Point Addis and even swung into Bell's Beach for a look at the surf! (However, wasn't good enough for me to make the effort!!)

Lily's teacher is Eddie Simpson and she has
6 or 7 others in her class, some of whom are
travelling like us.
Just to prove they are doing some school work!

We have stretched the school day by doing some "excursions". For example a trip to an Art Exhibition, and a PE trip to Lorne to try out the foreshore trampolines. The kids also had 'Home Ec' and made a packet chocolate cake in the camp kitchen, for morning tea. (have to make the most of times with an available oven!)

As you can see... Home Ec always encourages great hygiene!

Don't miss the cygnets, or ugly ducklings if you prefer
 to call them that.
 Bird life abounds!
