Bega - cheese, of course!

My kind of cow!
The Bega Valley is a bit north and inland of Merimbula, so we decided to do a day trip - to catch the monthly Farmer's Market and check out the cheese factory. Bega's main industry, as you'd expect, is dairying and the Bega factory. This was interesting and they had a great museum with a bit of interaction, and lots of the history of the devt etc. But as is common with a lot of these places, you don't really get a look at the processes of cheese making as they happen. ( the video was interesting tho'!)

The valley itself is very picturesque, with lots of green rolling hills, and the Snowy Mountains in the background.

And although the farming of the area is "dairy and cheese", the farmer's market didn't have any cheese tasting, or milk, in sight! However, the organic vegies and cappacinos were good. (Give me 'Mahalia', or a Daline's coffee any day!)

Nice drive tho', and another part of Australia "ticked off" on our list.
