Tweed Heads

The last time (4 or 5 years ago), when we came to the Gold Coast we came in to it from the Brisbane side and stayed at Treasure Island Caravan Park, only venturing into Southport and Surfer's Paradise for a day trip, as we were travelling by public Transport. This time, however, it was great to have our own wheels and we came in from the Southern end, at Tweed Heads. (Another set of coastal headlands, where a sizable river - the Tweed, enters the Pacific Ocean. New South Wales seems to have any number of these sort of rivers. Not like SA with the Murray and ...???... the Murray and...)

Having fun in the billabong at Tweed Heads

The park we stayed in was a little away from the coast, but had it's own natural billabong, and the mandatory pools ( now that we are this far north!). And much to the kid's delight, one was heated a bit and had a waterslide. I'd be a rich woman if I had a dollar for everytime the kids climbed out of the pool and ran up the ramp to do another slide entry! (I'd also have stronger 'abs' if I joined in with them, but you know how it is? There were way too many kids waiting for a turn for me to bother...?) I did have a go at paddle boarding on the billabong tho'. So my toe muscles are very well exercised, from gripping on to the board with every ounce of strength I could get out of them. However, it was worth it, as I didn't embarrass myself by falling in.

The kids had great fun here and the weather finally started to clear up a bit and we began to look forward to Easter, and a 'catch up' with some family.
