Warrumbungles

What a great name! It really rolls off the tongue.

We decided to begin heading back towards the coast. Was this a good idea when we were experiencing such good weather inland?? Somewhere, or another we had read that the Warrumbungles boasted one of the 'Top 10 bushwalks' in the country - what better reason did we need to make that our next step?!

The Warrumbungles from a distance.

We chose the campsite in the National Park that had showers and power available should we want it! (this meant we didn't pay for a powered site, but I did spend sosme time in my chair next to a power point while I waited for a laptop to charge up!)So far we have had a great experience with NSW National Parks, with their cleanliness, facilities and maintenance.
If you imagine these two photos next to each other, this was the view from our camp of a morning - glorious to wake up to!

Our campsite

The showers were a little way away from our campsite! But hey, at least there were showers, even if they were time-limited to 5 minutes! Of course I was a bit ambitious, and consequently had to rinse the soap off my legs, after getting rid of a few 'bristles', in the hand basin. I did get my hair washed tho'!!

However, even the crow and the kookaburra laughed at me, as I rode back to the van!

Scenery of the Warrumbungles!

A bit of a 'vertical' climb up " __?__ Tor". I forget it's name. ("tor" = rocky outcrop - according to the theaurus). Worth it for the great view tho'. This was on the 'shortcut loop' track that we took to save walking over the same ground twice. We have got really good at convincing the kids that the "shortcut", is really worthwhile! Even if it isn't really as short as we thought it was!!
Great views from the top of the "tor".
We evidently did climb fairly high, as we saw from further along the track, looking back.

A great spot, and "next time" we come that way, we WILL do the walk through the 'Grand High Tops', as the mountain features are collectively called. (We probably won't have the kids with us, putting the 'skids' on)!
