We are very excited, as for the next 10 days we are undertaking an Outback Links placement on a station 100kms south of Mount Garnet, on the Burdekin River. This station was in the direct line of Cyclone Yasi, as it came through Innisfail, over the range and inland. Consequently, this family have lots of cleaning up still to be done around their homestead, shed and yard. We are looking forward to putting in some hard work, and having some new experiences, as we assist this couple and their three boys as much as we can for a few days.
This will be a different experience for us, as we have never lived in such an isolated situation - 100kms from a small locality, and 50kms from the nearest neighbour! Hopefully, it will be a fulfilling exercise and I'm sure what we give in physical assistance, we will reap in worthwhile and satisfying experiences.
We'll keep you posted, but we'll be out of range of internet, I think, for this time. Hence the blog will be very 'static' for a while. No doubt we'll have lots to share with the next entries.
