Port Douglas

Beautiful scenery, beautiful weather... need I say more!

We stayed a few kms south of Port Douglas and did a couple of trips into 'town'. We were disappointed that there wasn't a beach front caravan park in Port Douglas. The town had a great atmosphere, quite 'touristy' and the main street set up for lots of shopping, and bringing in the tourist dollar (we didn't spend a lot there I'm afraid!)

Water sports...

...more water sports!
We did a walk up to the lookout , while one guy (with his cardiac monitor on!), did about 20 laps up and down the steps, looking very 'shirtless' and with a nice tan and 'six-pack' - a bit sweaty tho', in the tropical sun! The views were great, of the coastline..??!! And the rich and famous were out doing their thing with sailboats and para-sails! We 'plebs', flew our kite on the beach and Jed tested the water with a bit of a swim  and body surf. The beach is amazingly long and lovely ... and extra nice once the stingers have gone for the winter!!

From Pt Douglas we did a couple of day trips, out to Mossman Gorge and up to Cape Tribulation, and through the Daintree.

It would be nice to head for Port Douglas for two weeks, stay at a resort and stay put, with lots of eating out, shopping, sailing, sunning yourself on the beach, coffees... ahhhh.... but not this time!
