Burden Lifted!

9th August, 2011                    Today we have heard the “best” news!
Open Access has not been suiting our family adventures. Too much work was required to be fitted into the day, along with travel and great learning times as we travel. As well as a great requirement for computer/power and internet use, particularly for Jed, to access and complete. Schoolwork has been weighing us down, and taking the edge off our wonderful experience.
After a “spontaneous” conversation with a retired schoolteacher, yesterday morning, promoting the benefits of travel for learning and development (and there have been a number of similar conversations in the last few months) we decided to do something about it!
After communications with a very helpful and accommodating Steve Bennett, Principal of KAS, we are re-establishing the kid’s enrolment at Keith for the remainder of the year, giving up OAC and will go on with basically literacy and maths work that we can do at our own pace and make it relaxed and “trip relevant”. The District Education Office were also most understanding and have ‘okay’-ed the “exemption” from lesson attendance for the remainder of the year. Yay!! It’s been a long haul and we all feel very relieved and remarkable “free”.
